Background
Blockasset, a Web 3 Solana blockchain company with over 40 pro athlete ambassadors, needed to build an NFT minting platform to allow fans to access exclusive perks through athlete NFT ownership. This was due to adoption barriers for typical athlete fans and non-crypto users discovered through research.
Objectives
Streamline NFT acquisition for both crypto and non-crypto users, boosting NFT adoption in sports.
Provide fans a unique way to express their passion and fandom through digital memorabilia ownership.
Generate income for athletes through fan NFT sales.
Methods
As the CXO, I mentored and led the UX team, built the QA team and processes, and collaborated with the development and marketing teams to ensure product success. We applied the following:
User Research
Secure Asset Management
Provided secure, efficient NFT asset management integrating with Solana wallets and POS systems like Crossmint.
Blockasset Design System
To ensure consistency and efficiency in our brand’s digital presence, we developed a comprehensive design system including typography, color, and other design elements.
Fiat As Payment
To make NFT minting accessible to non-crypto users, we partnered with Crossmint to provide options for minting NFTs using fiat currencies and debit/credit cards making it easier for non-crypto users to own a BlockAsset NFT.
Quality Assurance
Built a QA team and created internal QA processes to thoroughly test the platform before launch.
Results
The NFT platform launched successfully, offering a user-friendly and secure way to mint BlockAsset NFTs. Collections by Usyk, Edwards, Burns, Teixeira, Figueiredo, and Rodrigues sold out, with 30% of Usyk purchases in fiat. The company’s roster has continued to grow and important partnerships have been secured as a result of the successful launch of roadmap products like this minting launchpad.
