Overview

Unify key operations—member database, renewals, tier management, and payments—into one intuitive interface Embed event management and communication modules for targeted emails, notifications, and community engagement Surface real-time analytics on membership growth and financial performance Align UI with WeRise branding and enterprise usability standards

Unions previously juggled separate systems for dues, renewals, events, and outreach. WeRise’s mission was to consolidate these into a single, branded platform that empowers staff to manage memberships, billing, events, and messaging—all backed by actionable analytics.

I led interviews with finance officers and union staff, defined personas, mapped 30+ task flows (checking balances, processing dues, scheduling events), and produced annotated wireframes and UI mockups. These became the blueprint for WeRise’s MVP, ensuring every screen served real operational and financial needs.

Team refining user journeys

A research-driven, iterative process—anchored in stakeholder alignment, real-world workflow mapping, and rapid prototyping—to validate each membership and operations feature.

Stakeholder Workshops & Discovery—Collaborated with Bursting Silver account teams and union executives to map core financial and operations challenges. Journey Mapping—Mapped 30+ key workflows—reconciliation, billing, balance checks, event setup, and member communications—to pinpoint pain points. Wireframing & Iteration—Delivered low- and mid-fidelity wireframes in Adobe XD, iterating designs through daily stand-ups and bi-weekly design reviews. Clickable Prototyping & Collaboration—Built interactive prototypes for the Finance Dashboard, Billing Module, and Event Manager. Developers worked in parallel with design, so prototypes fed directly into builds—resulting in a fully functional MVP with minimal handoff friction.

Process

Continuous alignment and feedback loops—ensuring every feature met user needs and enterprise standards.

Kickoff Workshops Defined success metrics for membership lifecycle, event engagement, and financial reporting. User Research Guided sessions with union staff to surface pain points in renewals, billing, and outreach. Wireframes & Validation Iterated Adobe XD wireframes for each module—testing flows for database management, auto-reminders, and communication templates. Joint Design-Dev Sprints Shared prototypes and specs in real time with developers, resulting in a seamless, on-brand MVP launch.

All artifacts were collected into a single WeRise UX playbook—aligning design vision with development execution and ensuring a cohesive, branded MVP.

Translating diverse union workflows into one platform was our north star. By iterating in lock-step with developers and grounding every design in user needs, we delivered an MVP that staff embraced from day one.

In eight months, WeRise progressed from concept to a fully functional MVP—integrating membership management, financial operations, event coordination, and analytics under a single UX.

We streamlined processes that once took days into tools usable in minutes, saving union staff an estimated 10+ hours per week. 100 % of early adopters said the new billing flow was easier than their legacy tools.
